TANGO-CONTEMPORARY ART OF ARGENTINA

July 2016, Contemporary works from 14 artists

Featuring artwork from the Argentinian Consulate in New York City, this show was the first of its kind. Beyond the fantastic collection of artists’ work, Art for the Soul Gallery featured special events including Tango demonstrations and beginner lessons, Argentinian food and wine tastings, poetry readings, and a visit from the Deputy Consul of Argentina. A special showing and discussion of TANGO NEGRO: The African Roots of Tango by Angolan filmmaker Dom Pedro rounded out the five-week event.

The exhibit was produced by Artistic Director Billy Myers, Art for the Soul Executive Director Woods, with the assistance of gallery interns Sierra Myers, Elizabeth Crippin and Audira Cave, and in part by a grant from the Springfield Cultural Council.
